➡️ Everest Base Camp Trek – Trail Overview
The Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek is physically demanding trekking adventures in the Himalayas. From beginning to end, the trail presents a variety of challenging terrains that require you to be physically prepared for long walking days—typically 7 to 8 hours of trekking per day, covering an average distance of 8- 10 kilometers daily.
The Everest base camp trek route includes a mix of gradual ascents, steep climbs, and descents, as well as multiple suspension bridge crossings over glacial rivers. You’ll trek through lush pine and rhododendron forests, open meadows, and rocky and icy sections as you gradually make your way toward Everest Base Camp.
➡️ EBC Trip Preparation
Preparing for the Everest Base Camp trek requires both mental and physical readiness. Regular hiking and walking in the months leading up to your departure is highly recommended to build endurance and improve fitness.
Additionally, it’s very important for participants with any pre-existing medical conditions to inform us at the time of booking. This allows us to make appropriate preparations and ensure that all necessary support is in place, ensuring a safe trekking experience for everyone.
Whether you're an experienced trekker or embarking on your first high-altitude journey, the Everest Base Camp trek offers a chance to challenge yourself, grow, and achieve something truly remarkable.
➡️ Acclimatization During EBC Trek
As the elevation increases, maintaining a slow and steady pace becomes essential. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, acclimatization is key. The itinerary includes extra rest days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche, which not only help your body adjust to the altitude but also give you the chance to explore local Sherpa villages, hike to stunning viewpoints, and immerse yourself in the culture of the Khumbu region.
Spending time at higher elevations helps prevent altitude sickness and reduces the risk of serious health issues during your trek. These rest days are more than just a medical precaution—they enhance your journey by allowing time to enjoy the majestic Himalayan surroundings without rushing.
Throughout the trek, Sherpa Brothers Treks experienced team is committed to your safety, comfort, and well-being. Their support allows you to focus on enjoying the adventure and capturing unforgettable moments as you progress toward your goal.

To ensure you have a worry free time with us, personal travel insurance is essential to cover the cost of unforeseen accident, illness or rescue. The costs involved can be large and personally overwhelming in the unlikely event of accident or injury.
It is important that participants with pre-existing health check problems or conditions should make these known to us at the time of Everest base camp trek booking. This information is crucial for us to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during the event. So that, we can make necessary arrangements and provide appropriate support if needed.
➡️ Best Time To Do Everest Base Camp Trek
While Nepal can be visited all year, the best times to go walking and trekking to Everest base camp are in the spring (late February – May) and autumn (late September-Mid December).
⏺ Autumn; The best time of year to do Everest base camp trek is supposedly in the autumn. With dry weather and crisp, clear skies, the mountain views are at their best. Since the summer monsoon, the countryside has been lush and green.
⏺ Spring; As the weather warms up in late February and May wide variety of trekking options become available. The gorgeous magnolia and rhododendron will be in bloom, even though the skies may be cloudier than in the fall. If you want to trek in Everest in the both fall and spring time, you should book well in advance because the popular trails can get crowded during this time and flights fill up fast.
⏺ Winter; Generally, winter brings bright, dry days, though the evenings are bitterly cold at altitude and snow can block certain path. Winter can be an excellent time to do Everest base camp trek because there are fewer tourists, even though a high-altitude trek such as Annapurna circuit, Manasalu trek might not be feasible during this season due to snow high passes can be blocked.

➡️ Internal Flights
Flights to Lukla from Ramechhap (Common in Peak Seasons: March–May & October–November)
During peak trekking seasons, most flights to Lukla depart from Manthali Airport in Ramechhap, rather than Kathmandu, due to increased air traffic. According to our EBC trekking plan, you will be transferred from Kathmandu to Ramechhap with your guide—a drive of about 4 to 6 hours. From there, the flight to Lukla takes just 15–20 minutes. Please note that Lukla flights are highly dependent on weather, and delays or cancellations are common due to the region’s mountainous terrain and unpredictable conditions. To minimize disruption to your Everest Base Camp trek, Sherpa Brothers Treks includes an extra day in your itinerary for weather-related contingencies, providing flexibility for your travel plans.
During the off-season, direct flights from Kathmandu to Lukla are available via Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). These flights take 30 to 40 minutes and offer spectacular views of the Himalayas.
➡️ Alternative Options When Lukla Flights Are Cancelled
If your scheduled flight to Lukla is canceled due to poor visibility or unsafe flying conditions, Sherpa Brothers Treks will automatically rebook you on the next available flight once the weather improves. However, during peak trekking seasons, there can be significant backlogs, sometimes resulting in airport waits of a day or more. Occasionally, bad weather may halt Lukla flights for 2–3 days.
If you’re short on time, booking a helicopter to Lukla is a quicker alternative, as helicopters can often operate in conditions that ground planes. Group-sharing helicopter flights are usually available, depending on demand. Alternatively, you can travel overland by jeep to Salleri (about 8–12 hours), then continue by vehicle to Surke (7–8 hours). This route adds approximately two extra trekking days but provides a more flexible and scenic option when flights are disrupted.
➡️ Baggage Allowance & Restrictions
Your journey to Lukla will be aboard a Twin Otter or Dornier aircraft, both twin-engine planes specially designed for Himalayan flights. These aircraft accommodate up to 18 passengers, including crew members, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey to the gateway of Everest.
Each passenger ticket to Lukla includes a strict weight limit of 15 kg (33 lbs) in total. This allowance is divided as follows:
Checked baggage: Maximum 10 kg (22 lbs)
Hand luggage: Maximum 5 kg (11 lbs)
Please note that these limits are strictly enforced due to aircraft safety regulations. The combined weight allowance is generally sufficient for all essentials required on an Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek. We recommend packing efficiently and within these restrictions to avoid additional charges or issues at the airport.
We will provide you duffel bag for your trip gear packing. Your main duffel bag will be carried by the porters. This pack can only hold a maximum weight of 12 kg per trekkers. Extra porters are needed for bags that are overweight or large.
