Dudhkunda(Milk Lake), a glacial lake at 4,600 meters(15,091 feet), is revered by both Buddhists and Hindus. It is a stunning glacial lake located in the Solukhumbu district of Nepal, near the base of the majestic Mount Numbur. Legend says the lake is the abode of Goddess Parvati, and its crystal waters reflect the snow-capped peaks of Numbur Himal. Itinerary

Greetings from Sherpabrothers Treks! On your arrival day, we will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your hotel, where you will receive a welcome drink. In the evening, we invite you to a welcome dinner hosted by Sherpabrothers Treks at a traditional Nepalese cultural restaurant.

                                                                                                                        

After breakfast, your tour guide will take you on a half-day tour of Kathmandu, visiting UNESCO World Heritage sites. After the tour, you will have time to prepare for your trek, including shopping, packing, obtaining permits and meeting with your trekking guide.

In the early morning, your guide will pick you up from your hotel, and your jeep journey to Dhap will begin with a packed breakfast. We follow the bank of the Sunkoshi River until reaching Gurmi village and then drive uphill after crossing the river to Okhaldhunga village. We will reach Dhap for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, our trek begins here as we walk through Sigane. Along the way, we will enjoy stunning views of beautiful mountains, including Everest and Numbur. Our journey will also be enriched by visiting to charming Buddhist monastery and stupa along the trail, adding a spiritual dimension to our adventure. We will stay at Jhapre.

From Jhapre, we will head to the Pikey Peak base camp, with the ascending through Bhulbhule Dada. Along the way, you will experience scenic views of rolling hills covered in lush green grass, Yak pastures, and vibrant rhododendron forests. A long Mani stone wall will also enhance the journey, creating a wonderful atmosphere. Then we will reach to Base Camp for an overnight stay.

 

Early in the morning, we will excitedly make our way to Pikey Peak. From the summit, you can enjoy panoramic views of the mountains including iconic peaks, as the stunning sunrise bathes the landscape in golden hues. After enjoying those captivating moments, we will descend to Jasmane Vanjyans for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, the path connecting Jasmane to Junbesi takes you through the traditional Taktor Sherpa village, showcasing scenic Yak pastures, hillsides blanketed with meadows, majestic pine and rhododendron forests, and fields of thriving potato, wheat and barley  cultivation. And then we will descend into the beautiful valley where the Sherpa village of Junbesi awaits, offering us comfortable accommodation

There is no need to rush this morning for breakfast, as you will have entire day to explore Sherpa culture, enjoy views from Junbeshi and visit Thuptencholing, one of Nepal’s largest monasteries. We will hike up to the monastery, where primarily Aani (femal monks) reside. They are hospitable and welcoming and it’s fascinating to explore the scattered kitchens around the monastery which provide insights into their culinary traditions and a unique glimpse into their lifestyle and spirituality. The area is home to Tibetan monks who settled there as refugees many years ago.

 

Today we will make our way to Taksindu, descending through the small Sherpa village of Ringmu. As we navigate the steep trail, we will enjoy captivating views of the mountains while walking through dense forest until we arrive at Taksindu. From Taksindo La Pass, you will enjoy stunning panaromic views of the mountains, including Mount Everest and Numbur Himal. We will stay at Taksindo.

 

We will head to Saharsbeni early in the morning after having breakfast. Along the way we will enjoy walking through scenic views of snowcapped mountains and breathtaking landscapes. The trail goes through a forest of pine, rhododendron and many other trees and shrubs.

 

 

Today is another exciting day, so we will set out early in the morning to catch the sunlight before it is overhead. This light creates a stunning reflection of Mt. Numbur and Karyalung glacier in the milky lake. This place is a holy site for both Buddhist and Hindu people, who believe it is home to Lord Siva. Pilgrims dip in the icy lake, believing that it clears away all their sins. There are 105 other small ponds and temples around the Duddhakunda. You can walk around the lake and take your time to appreciate the beauty of the lake that lies in the lap of Mt. Numbur. After exploring beauty of this breathtaking nature, we will back to Saharsbeni for an overnight stay.

 

After breakfast, we will return to the  Taksindu village,  and in the afternoomn explore the area. 

Before driving to Phaplu, we will explore one of the village’s most notable landmarks, the Taksindu Monastery, which is a major learning center for lamas. During our visit, we will also immerse ourselves in the cultural richness of the diverse ethnic groups, including the Sherpa, Rai, Tamang and others.

 

We will return to Kathmandu by Jeep or flight, enjoying a packed breakfast along the way. This journey will be filled with cherished memories of our time at Pikey and Dudhakunda. And then drop you off at your hotel.

While Nepal can be visited all year, the best time to go walking and trekking to Pikey-Dudhkunda trek is in the spring (late February – May) and autumn (late September-Mid December).

 

Autumn: The best time of year to do Pikey-Dudhkunda trek is supposedly in the autumn. With dry weather and crisp, clear skies, the panoramic mountain views adorned with golden hues are truly breathtaking in autumn. Since the summer monsoon, the countryside has been lush and green.

Yes Of Course.We Provide a Good and Best Quality,custom-made, 4-season'super-down'warm sleeping bag.We also recommend packing a lightweight down jacket for usage in the tea house rooms at night. If you perfect to bring your own sleeping bags please ensure it is of mountaineering standard with a minimum loft of 800 for the  jacket,and a minimum rating of -20 degree c for the sleeping bags.Please these items you make your booking so we know you require them.

The combined pikey dudhdhakunda  trek usually takes 10 -14 days depending on pace and route. 

This trip is guaranteed to run with a minimum of 1 participant and can accommodate up to 15 persons per group. .If you join a mid-size group 5 to 10 people you'll get group social vibe.

You will see diiferent types of himalayan wildlife like(mammals like musk deer, goral,etc). The birds like danphe(national bird of nepal and others different types bird you will see  and another forest habitat like rhododendron forests,pine&oak forests alpine meadows are see during pikey dudhkunda trek.

Yes of course .The pikey peak region is home to sherpa rai and tamang communities and respecting local culture will make you trek more meaningful. Yes altitude sickness can be a concern,espicially if you are trekking to dudhakunda(4,561m).The pikey peak summit itself(4065m)is moderate but still high enough for some trekkers to feel symptoms. if symptoms worsen such as severse headache vomiting or shortness of breath descend to a lower altitude right away.

Yes you will find  last ATM in salleri bazzar and phaplu and the better option to bring enough nepali rupees(NPR)from kathmandu before trek.

Yes, you can charge devices but charging points are limited and may require a small fee.and the better option is to bright your own power bank(20,000-40,000 MAH) for charge the device.

All guides working under Sherpa Brothers are well trained with basic and advance first aid knowledge. By analyzing the situation they will take necessary action coordination with the company and rescue thoroughly  by Heli. It is important that you have the travel insurance which has the altitude coverage and  we collect it beforehand of trek start. 

Accommodation on the trail ranges from basic tea house to homestays depending on the locaiton. you will get good private rooms with simple beds and facilities are basic shared bathrooms cold showers at higher altitudes.
