Nar phu Valley and Annapurna Circuit Trekking

Narphu is an utterly unique ‘secret’ valley offering landscape and culture that is barely touched by the modern world. Taking in medieval Tibetan culture and magnificent grand panoramas of the Annapurna massif, the route offers an extraordinary opportunity for the most adventurous of trekkers. This valley has only been open to foreigners since 2003 and is culturally dominated by Tibetan buddhism. It used to be a trade route with Tibet but the trade pattern changed after the Nepalese government closed the border. Lying above the tree line, and reminiscent of the Tibetan Plateau, it is one of the most remote areas that it is possible to visit as a tourist. Still today, the majority of people in this area depend upon Yarsa Gumba, the collection of valuable herbs, yak herding and souvenir trading in the winter. This relatively untrodden route located north of Annapurna starts from Beshishahar and peels off after a few days on the popular trekking route of the Annapurna circuit trail. This trek is suited to the more adventurous and requires a high level of fitness. An interest in remote cultures is recommended.

As with all our treks, we can be flexible with the itinerary and can adjust many details according to your time, availability and special interests.
